Quickmuse - The Big Hitters

I know I keep mentioning this, but today's the day that Paul Muldoon takes on Andrew Motion.

I'm sure they'd play down the pugilistic element of the enterprise, but it should be a fascinating comparison even if it's not really a competition.

I'd like to see a competition between a really well known writer and a virtual unknown -- both identities kept secret, until after the competition, and people have had an opportunity to guess their identities.

That would be a fascinating experiment, Paul. I wonder which professional poets would be brave enough to take it on. And who would we choose to pitch ourselves against, if we had the chance?

I don't know the contemporary US poets too well, except as names, but being from England I'm more familiar with Motion and Muldoon. What did you think of their poems?
